The Body and Mind Connection

Mindfulness

Our physical health and emotional well-being are closely linked, and our thoughts and feelings have a direct impact on our physical sensations, well-being and health.

How does the body react to stress?

When we experience stress, anxiety, or other negative emotions, our body responds with physical symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches, or stomach discomfort, just to name a few. This is because the brain and body communicate through a complex network of nerves and chemicals, and our thoughts and emotions can trigger physical responses.

The impact of positive emotions

Similarly, positive thoughts and emotions have a beneficial effect on our physical health. For example, practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques helps us to reduce stress and improves our overall well-being. By paying attention to our thoughts and emotions, we can better understand how they influence our physical sensations and take steps to promote a healthier mind-body connection.

Body is not stiff,  Mind is stiff.

K. Pattabhi Jois

What did the founder of Ashtanga Yoga mean with the quote above? With the knowing of the interconnectedness of body and mind, we can always bring awareness to our automated thoughts, especially the ones that do not serve us. Thoughts per se are not bad. It’s in fact only the repetitive negative thinking, learned over the years, that hinders us to lead a free and joyful life, full of possibilities.

Force & Destiny

We have the power to shape our own destiny through the choices we make and the actions we take. By embracing our inner strength and determination, we can steer our lives towards the life we envision.
