It’s about lifting each other up, celebrating successes, and creating spaces where every woman feels seen, supported, and empowered. Just like in yoga, sisterhood is about balance, strength, and harmony—not just within ourselves, but also with those around us.

Strength in Unity: Lessons from Yoga

Think of a yoga pose like the Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana, see below). It’s strong yet grounded, open yet focused—a perfect symbol of what sisterhood embodies. When women stand together, rooted in their own strength and connected to others, there’s no limit to what we can achieve – it just needs mindfulness.

Allen J. Langer, the mindful psychologist from Harvard puts it this way:

“Regardless of how we get there, either through meditation or more directly by paying attention to novelty and questioning assumptions, to be mindful is to be in the present, noticing all the wonders that we didn’t realize were right in front of us.”

What Sisterhood Looks Like in Everyday Life

Sisterhood is a practice—just like yoga. It’s about showing up, being intentional, and finding strength in connection. Here are four ways we can bring the energy of sisterhood into our daily lives:

Celebrate Each Other: Just as you cheer yourself on when you hold a challenging pose, celebrate the achievements of the women around you. Their success doesn’t diminish yours—it amplifies it

Offer a Hand: Whether it’s helping someone through a tough moment or simply being a good listener, small acts of kindness build lasting bonds

Create Space: In yoga, we hold space for ourselves on the mat. In life, we can do the same for others—supporting them without judgment or competition

Practice Gratitude: Recognize the women who inspire you, support you, or challenge you to grow. Gratitude strengthens connections and fosters mutual respect

Sisterhood as a Daily Practice

Just like yoga, sisterhood isn’t always easy. There will be moments when jealousy or comparison creeps in, just like the wobble in a balancing pose. But that’s when the practice becomes most important—breathing through the discomfort, letting go of the ego, and focusing on connection instead of competition.

Rising together

Sisterhood reminds us that we’re not in this alone. Life is not a race to the finish line, but a flow that’s better when we move through it together. Whether it’s cheering someone on, standing beside her during a difficult time, or simply showing kindness, we can create a world where women lift each other higher every day. So, the next time you feel the pull of competition, pause. Take a deep breath, just like you would on the mat. And remember: together, we rise.

Yours, Karin

Rising Together – On and Off the Mat In today’s world, where women often feel pressured to compete instead of connect, the idea of sisterhood is more powerful than ever.
